Today is Tuesday!
The clouds in the sky today made the children very anxious to know if it was going to rain or not today. We kept being meteorologists and observing the weather to find out!
Today we had P.E., worked with the upper case 'G' and identifying beginning sounds of words for o, l, and g, learned about how the seasons affect the activities that people do and the clothes that people must wear, had an interactive storytelling of the story of creation and all that God made, made a hand to place around the world to show how we can take care of the world, and worked with determining the most/fewest amounts of pattern blocks through graphing!
Parents: PLEASE remember to send your child's yellow folder to school every day with their weekly behvaior sheet initialed--this helps your child learn responsibility for their belongings!

Happy Friday!!!
Just another amazing day in kindergarten at St. Luke's Elementary School!!!
We began our day by going to Mass and then we had music!
We worked more with the alphabet to identify and count each letter: vowel and consonant.
In math, we were mathematicians as we explored the shapes of circle and rectangle with crackers, along with going on a circle and rectangle hunt in our classroom to identify the shapes everywhere!
Before ending our day with centers, we enjoyed reviewing the letter 'o' as we made O's out of Cheerios and then made a big class 'O' vowel poster!
We read an octopus rhyme poem followed by listening to The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! to identify the placement of the 'o' in each word: beginning or middle. We then enjoyed eating octopus hot dogs to celebrate our hard work with the letter 'o'!

"I love school!" Thursday
Today we worked more with identifying the sounds and letter symbols for 'l' and 'o, 'identified vowels and consonants, and worked more with sentences!
We are working towards showing more reverence during Religion time through our actions such as genuflecting, marking our foreheads, lips, and hearts with a cross, and participating in actions for Psalm prayers.
We had Rosetta Stone today in the computer lab and visited the library to check out new library books!
Referring back to our potatoes we first predicted about the insides of the potatoes and then observed them making conclusions that they were different! We discussed their similarities and differences and reviewed living and nonliving objects. We did a 'Living and Nonliving' sort of objects. We then worked with the word 'opposite' to discuss what it meant and to do in an activity in which we had to find a partner with the opposite object card as us and explan why it was the opposite!
We enjoyed our centers time today as we are exploring more and more things to work and learn with alongside our friends!!
Reminders:
TONIGHT is PTP Meeting in the Parish Hall at 7:00p.m.
TOMORROW is Show-and-Share in which your child may bring an appropriate item that starts with 'o' to school to share with friends!

Thursday!
Today we had a terrific day! We began our day by going to the computer lab for Rosetta Stone! We worked more with our counting bears and pattern blocks: counting with one-to-one correspondence to 10 and writing the number 1 with pencils as best as we could! In religion, we discussed the importance of Jesus' name and how it is holy, which is why we do certain things such as genuflecting in the church which we practiced! We visited the library and checked out new library books which was very exciting! The search for 'L' words in the new library books began right away :)
We we were great letter 'L' makers as we worked in our literacy centers making 'l's with different manipulatives!
We reviewed our five senses and how they help us learn. We made a five senses man to remind us of how we learn: Eyes to see, bells used for ears to hear, cinnamon for a nose that smells, tootsie roll for a tasting mouth, and sand paper arms for our touching hands!
We were also wonderful scientists as we learned with our five senses using apples! We began by making a Venn Diagram to first think of how we could use our senses to work with apples and what we already knew about red and green apples. We then proceeded to investigate red, green, and yellow apples with all of our senses. One comment in the process of the activities was, "Wow! We really can use all 5 senses with apples!" We made a graph to determine our favorite color of apple as the last sense we used was tasting the red, green, and yellow apples!
Please send back Blue Wednesday Folders the following day and all papers that are meant to be sent back!

In SecondStep Guidance program, we reviewed our rules and how we demonstrate them as we introduced a new puppet: Snail! Puppy and Snail visited our classroom in which we had to use our "attentoscopes" and listening ears and bodies to participate in a "Follow Follow" game in which we only followed Snail's directions as Puppy tried to trick us! There were defined proud moments of focused attention and great listening skills among the students!
