Thank you to all who were able to join us for the Thanksgiving luncheon. The students were very excited to see you and enjoyed their lunch.

Friday we will be attending mass at 8:00 AM. 
Last day to bring canned foods will be on Friday. Thank you for all your support.


Gracias a todos que nos pudieron acompañar a la comida de Accion de Gracias. Los estudiantes estaban muy contentos y disfrutaron su compañia.

Morning Prayer

• Morning prayer is going well so far. Thanks parents for your support in bringing your child on time.
• I sent home a reminder on school dress code. Please call the office if you have any questions
• I also sent home a book wish list from your child. Scholastic Book Fair is in effect this week from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. 
• Don't forget your canned foods for our Thanksgiving drive
• Thursday is our Thanksgiving Luncheon during lunch time (if your child doesn't participate PLEASE make sure you send a lunch for them since there will be no food service that day)

NEXT WEEK / Book Fair & Thanksgiving Luncheon

It's that time of the year. Mark your calendars our Thanksgiving luncheon will be next Thursday, November 15th during lunch time. Older siblings will be allowed to eat lunch with younger sibling and parent. $8 per adult and $5 per student.

News ....Reminders

Hello Parents:

On Thursday, there is a PTP meeting at 7:00 PM in Parish Hall. Students that are present will be invited to particpate in a small program headed by Ms. Keller (music). 
On Friday, students will be released at 12 noon. Please make adequate arrangements for on time pick up. Lunch will be at regular time (11:00 AM) and there will be ESD services available.

Thanksgiving food can drive: Please start sending your canned foods (not expired) for our annual Thanksgiving food drive. Remember that we are blessed to have food in our tables every day but some families depend on our donations for that to happen.

 El Jueves, habra junta de PTP a las 7:00 PM. Alumnos presentes tendrán la oportunidad de participar en un programa conducido por Ms. Keller (cantar). 

El Viernes, los estudiantes saldran a las 12 mediodia. Favor de hacer arreglos necesarios para que los recogan a tiempo. Estudiantes comeran almuerzo a la hora regular (11:00 AM) y los servicios de ESD estaran vigentes.

Donaciones de comida enlatada: Favor de  enviar sus donaciones de comida enlatada (no vencida). Recuerden que nosotros somos bendecidos con comida en nuestras mesas todos los dias pero hay familias que dependen en nuestras donaciones para comer.

End of the week news

• Thursday, Nov. 1st: All Saint's Day we will be attending mass at 8:00 AM. Please bring your child to school before 7:55 am.
• I hope to see all my lil "Saints" tomorrow
• Friday is parent conference.  I will send a reminder tomorrow with your child.
• DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS THIS WEEKEND. Saturday night we "fall" back one hour. (set our clocks back one hour)
• Sunday will be the all school mass at 11:00 am. Hope you can make it. The school will be selling food after masses from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm.

This will be a short week but very busy.
Wednesday, Oct. 31st: Halloween carnival in gym from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Everyone is invited to come ! ! There will be games, food, and candy= Fun for all the family
Thursday, Nov. 1st: All Saints Mass at 8:00 am. Students will also come dressed as their favorite Saint.
Friday, Nov. 2nd: No school but remember that I will be at school for Parent conference. Looking forward to seeing you.

Miercoles, 31 de Octubre: Carnaval de Halloween en el gimnasio de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm. Todos estan invitados ! ! Habran juegos, comida y dulces= Diversion para toda la familia

Parents:
Today was the last day of the 1st quarter. We  are learning so much and still need to learn a lot more. It has been an honor working with you all especially with your children. I am very blessed to be part of their lives. Have a terrific weekend and continue working on which Saint your child will represent on Thursday. 
PLEASE NOTE A CHANGE ON THE PROJECT: if your your child comes dressed as a Saint then there will be no need to make a poster or booklet. Your child will only have to tell give us a small presentation (1 to 3 minutes) of what they learned about their Saint.

Padres:
Hoy terminamos con el primer periodo del año (primer cuarto). Estamos aprendiendo mucho y nos falta mucho mas en aprender. Ha sido un honor trabajar con ustedes pero en especial con sus hijos. Me siento bien bendecida de ser parte de sus vidas. Que pasen un agradable fin de semana. UN CAMBIO EN EL PROYECTO DEL DIA DE LOS SANTOS: si su hijo/a se disfraza de su Santo(a) entonces no tendran que entregar ni cartolina ni libreto sobre su santo. Su hijo/a solamente tendra que presentar (1 a 3 minutos) algunos detalles que aprendio sobre su Santo(a).

Hello we have a busy week ahead of us. We are reviewing letters Ii and Ss, in math we are learning about the value of pennies, and this week is Drug Awareness week. 

Reminder: Picture Day on Thursday (if you buy package you have a free dress down day on Thursday...students can come in jeans but no skinny jeans.....and tennis shoes are acceptable). ALSO, Thursday will be the LAST DAY that students can wear uniform shorts; and last but not least FRIDAY: no school

Esta semana tendremos una semana muy ocupada. Estamos repasando las letras Ii y Ss, en matematicas estamos aprendiendo de los centavos, y esta semana es "Prevencion Contra la Drogas".

RECORDATORIO: Dia de fotos individuales sera el Jueves (si compra paquete podran venir sin uniforme ese dia...pueden ponerse pantalon de mezclilla pero no los "skinny jeans" y pueden traer zapatos tenis. TAMBIEN muy importante se les recuerda que el Jueves sera el ultimo dia de la temporada para que su hijo/a vista en uniforme de pantalones cortos "shorts". Y lo mas importante no habra clase el Viernes.

The Bulletin Board Newsletter went out today please make sure you read it. KINDER's booth raised $299.50 THANK YOU for all your support. Also today the parent conference (Friday, Nov. 2nd)  time sheet when out PLEASE choose your first three choices and return the form ASAP. Remember it is first come first serve.
 Hoy se envio las noticias de la semana. El puesto de Kinder reacaudo $299.50. MUCHAS GRACIAS por su apoyo. Tambien hoy se envio la hoja de conferencias (viernes, 2 de Nov)  favor de escoger tres horarios convenientes para reunirse conmigo. Regrese la hoja lo mas pronto posible porque se le dara preferencia a las formas que se entregen primero.
 

St. Luke Feast Day

School mass this week will be on THURSDAY instead of Friday. We will be celebrating St. Luke's Feast day on Thursday, October 18th at 8:00 AM. Please make sure your child is in school by 7:50 AM and ready to go to mass. After mass, we will continue with our testing.

Fall weather

As you know the Fall weather is here, PLEASE assure yourself that your child's sweater (hoodies) and jackets have your child's name on it. Tell your child to be responsible and look out for their sweaters and jackets.

Como ustedes saben que el clima de otoño esta aqui, FAVOR de asegurarse que el nombre de su hijo/a este en la etiqueta de su sueter ó chamarra. Tambien digale a su hijo/a que sea responsable en cuidar su sueter y chamarra.

This week Kinder will be taking the ITBS test. PLEASE make sure your child has a good night sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. Also it is very important that your child is present all this week and on time by 7:50 am.

EARLY RELEASE Friday, October 12th. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Lunch will be served and ESD will be on duty.

Have a great weekend and REMEMBER that students will be testing ITBS starting Monday, October 15th. Please make sure that students go to bed early on Sunday night and eat a good breakfast.

Green Meadows Farm

Special thanks to Mr. Acosta, Mr. Hernandez, Ms. Cano, Ms. Gaytan, and Ms. Mathis for volunteering to chaperone Kinder in their field trip. The students had a great time and we wouldn't have done it without your help. 

Un agradecimiento especial a el Sr. Acosta, Sr. Hernandez, Sra. Cano, Sra. Gaytan, y Sra. Mathis por haber sido chaperones de Kinder en el paseo a la granja. Los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho y su ayuda para que eso fuera posible.

Field Trip

First of all, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, to all that donated their time and effort to our Fall Festival this weekend. May God double bless you for all you do for our school.

Primeramente, MUCHIIIISIIIMAS GRACIAS, a todos quien donaron su tiempo y dedicacíon al Festival este fin de semana. Que Dios les duplique en bendiciones ! !

Tomorrow is our Field Trip Day to Green Meadows Farm. PLEASE make sure your child comes dressed comfortably: jeans (no shorts), St. Luke t-shirt or polo shirt, and tennis shoes. Send a sack lunch to with a bottled water also. We will be leaving at approximately 9:00 AM. Chaperones please be at the school by 8:45 AM.

Mañana es el dia de Paseo a la Granja de Green Meadows. FAVOR de asegurarse que su hijo/a venga vestido comodamente: pantalones de mezclilla (no pantalones cortos), playera o camisa polo de San Lucas, y zapatos tenis. Tambien asegurese que su hijo/a traiga su almuerzo (lonche) y una botella de agua. Saldremos de la escuela aproximadamente a las 9:00 AM. Chaperones favor de estar en la escuela a las 8:45 AM.

Reminder: St. Francis Feast Day

Just a reminder that tomorrow there will be the blessing of animals in honor of St. Francis. Please make sure if you bring real animals that you (parent/adult) brings it in at 9:00 am and take it with you right after service. 
The ceremony will be in the church plaza.
If you can't attend, then your child can bring to school a toy stuffed animal. 

Solo se les recuerda que mañana habra la bendicion de animales en conmemoración a San Francisco. Favor de traer a su mascota (vivo) a las 9:00 am y llevarselo acabando el servicio. Si acaso no pueden traer a su mascota, su hijo/a puede traer un animal de peluche (juguete).

FESTIVAL Help

Parents:
Thank you so much for turning in your tickets and money. We are also in NEED of mini pumpkins for our booth. We can decorate them with googly eyes, small pompoms, pipe cleaners, stickers and sharpie markers.

This week we are learning about farm animals (getting the kids ready for the field trip) and community workers. 

Padres:
Muchas gracias a todos que entregaron su dinero de los boletos. Necesitamos ayuda con las calabazas (pequeñitas) para nuestro puesto. Las vamos a decorar con ojitos, pompoms pequeñas, pipe cleaners, calcamonias (stickers) y markadores "sharpies". 

Esta semana estamos aprendiendo de animales de la granja (para prepararnos para nuestro paseo) y trabajadores (ayudantes) de la comunidad.

There are a few students that haven't turned in their permission slip and/or their $15 fee for the Field Trip on October 9th. PLEASE have that turned in by Monday morning.
Also please continue studying the prayers (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) with your child because on Monday we will be participating in the Living Rosary.

Field Trip

PK and Kinder will be having a field trip on Tuesday, October 9th. Please read the orange sheet I sent home today. Sign, send fee ($15 per student) and return by Friday. We are going to Green Meadows Farm (Grand Prairie, TX) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The students were very excited today when I announced it.
 Congratulations to the Villegas Family for the new addition to their family (baby girl) ! !

Week of September 24th

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. This week in Kinder we are learning the letter P and A. In Math,  we are graphing, patterns and working with recognizing numbers 0-20. In science we are learning about hibernating animals and fall plants. In Social Studies we are continuing our Hispanic Heritage theme. In Religion, we are learning about God's creations--animals. 

Wednesday: progress reports issued
Friday: (Fair Day) Early release at 12 noon
Monday, Oct. 1st: Living Rosary at 9:00 AM

P.S. Please start sending any ideas for our Festival booth--circus elephants is our theme.  And if you can donate any pumpkins, please.

Espero que hayan pasado un fabuloso fin de semana. Esta semana Kinder esta aprendiendo las letras P y A. En Matematicas, estamos trabajando con graphicas, patrones y reconocer numeros 0 al 20. En ciencias naturales, estamos hablando de plantas de otoño y que significa hibernar. En ciencias sociales continuamos aprendiendo sobre Mes de la Hispanidad. En Religion, estamos aprendiendo la creación de Dios--los animales.

For Friday....

The students have been doing very good with their spelling words. Please continue to practice with them. Thank you to the parents that are turning in their raffle money. Tomorrow (Friday) we will be attending mass at 8:00 AM. The students have been very good. We will also be making a small piñata due to Hispanic Heritage Month.

Raffle tickets / Boletos de rifa

PLEASE make sure you continue selling your raffle tickets and return the ticket stubs with money ASAP. Thank you for you collaboration. The student that sells all of their tickets in my class will get a special treat (TBA).

FAVOR de continuar vendiendo sus boletos de rifa y regresen el dinero con el pedazo del boleto con los datos del comprador lo mas pronto posible. Muchas gracias por su colaboracion. El alumno en mi clase que venda todos sus boletos se le dara un regalito.

This week

Hello Parents:
This week I gave you in the homework sheet a spelling list: log, hog, hot, lot, got. Please say the word to students and emphasize on the sound of each letter and have them try to spell/write it without looking. Also in Social Studies we will be learning about Hispanic Heritage Month, emphasizing in the countries: Mexico, El Salvador and Costa Rica. In Math, we are working with sorting and graphing.

Esta semana en la tarea les envie una lista de palabras: log, hog, hot, lot, got. Puede ayudar a su hijo: diciendo le la palabra, enfocándose en cada sonido de la letras y dejarlo/a que lo deletree o escriba. En Ciencias Sociales estaremos hablando del Mes de la Hispanidad concentrándonos el los países de: México, El Salvador y Costa Rica. En Matemáticas estamos agrupando y creando graficas.
